Our Values
Pyxis FRC aims to inspire and train the engineers and inventors of the future. We are a student-run, tight-knit, and passionate team of students and mentors collaborating for competitive success.
Student leadership
A unique aspect of Pyxis is our strong commitment to student leadership. Students form the backbone of the team in almost every aspect: engaging sponsors, budgeting, designing, building, and programming the robot, and creating and executing outreach events. Through this responsibility, our students gain valuable leadership and professional skills.
Removing financial barriers to STEM
Many high-school students interested in STEM can’t afford the high entry costs of STEM opportunities. However, we believe financial barriers should not prevent students from participating on a robotics team. To this end, Pyxis does not charge entry fees, and also covers travel costs for competitions.
Inspiring future students
We perform outreach in local communities to inspire passion for STEM. We carry out outreach in the East Valley and plan on conducting STEM camps to educate and inspire children in STEM and engineering concepts. We are going to expand these STEM workshops to San Tan Valley, a small-town community where students lack practical access to valuable STEM opportunities.
